I visited Lithuania in April 2019 when the weather was justtttttt right but still a little cold after coming from the Middle East! It was a sunny, nice high 40s F, which I heard is pretty high for this region, especially because it wasn’t gloomy. I hadn’t heard so much about Lithuania before visiting but the country was beautiful I loved walking around Vilnius and jeeping around the countryside in Lithuania. Lithuania should not be missed when on a Eurotrip and I really loved learning about the history and visiting Lithuania.

What To Expect When Visiting Lithuania

Lithuania is a country, like Latvia, that was pretty much never on my bucket list. There are at least 80+ places I would rather have visited than the Baltics in the beginning of April when it it still pretty damn cold. However, when an opportunity came up to visit Lithuania, I knew this was my chance to see the country. Vilnius is a super cute city and everyone is so nice. You an easily see Vilnius in a weekend. There is also a ton to see in the countryside of Lithuania. If you have the chance for either a layover, cruise stops, or a free weekend to pop over to Vilnius I highly recommend visiting Lithuania in Europe!

Language

Lithuanian! It kind of sounds like Russian but not really (and don’t tell them that). All the younger generation speaks perfect English though.

Other Tips When Visiting Lithuania

  • Download BOLT-TAXIFY app. Lithuania also has Uber (that’s what I mostly used) but Bolt-Taxify is even quicker than Uber and has the same process. Note that you are not supposed to hail a taxi on the street as they hike up the prices so stick to Uber or Bolt-Taxify!
  • LITHUANIA PACKING TIPS: For all of my travel/packing essentials I bring on any trip compiled together, head to my influencer page on Amazon here for a complete list or my descriptive carry-on packing guide here!
    • Layers are the name of the game in these Baltic countries!
  • Travel Insurance: When visiting Lithuania, I highly recommend getting travel insurance. You never know what may happen to your flights, a death/personal emergency in your family, or an accident happening while traveling (think: getting mugged, falling while hiking and spraining your ankle, literally any accident than can happen ANYWHERE!). World Nomads makes it super easy and I never leave for a trip without getting their insurance. Most importantly it’s extremely affordable: get your World Nomads travel insurance before your trip here!
